A centralized licenses management can guarantee licenses traceability at a global level.
Monitoring the software use is important to respect contractual terms given by the kit suppliers and also to avoid possible penalties against Piracy. Using the historical statistics you can identify the period of major request for each application so it is possible to guarantee, in advance, the correct licenses availability level.
Question results are constantly archived in a data-base (Observer chose MySQL solution) to be ready for the module Obs Client during analyses
Obs Client is a Rich Internet Application realized with FLEX technology. Intuitive interface and user friendly guarantee a fast orders execution. Thanks to communication with Active Directory users have the permission to Observer login using same credentials of their own stations (Win. Mac, Unix) login.
Observer functions
Observer is multi-platform application developed using Adobe FLEX® technology.
It is usable with normal browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Sfari, Chrome etc.) and also with the comfortable and functional cross browser version in Adobe AIR® format.
Observer is able to analyze use and distribution for each license based on Flexlm, Flsexnet and LUM technology; moreover it is adaptable for being interfaced with owner license manager.
Observer is composed by two modules with following features:
Obs Engine
deals to monitor, at regular and adaptable intervals, every license manager present at the interior of the business structure, archiving all the available information, such as:
- Software name
- Feature name
- The number of licenses bought for each feature
- The number of licenses and eventual token used at the observation moment
- The number of borrowed licenses
- Each singular feature expiry date
- Users information (Active Directory login)
Obs Engine checks constantly the state of license daemons, sending e-mail messages and, if expected, SMS for the happening of special events (licenses in expiry, line problems, etc.)
Obs Client
Rich Internet Application to display and analyses dates acquired by Obs Engine. It can guarantee to authorized users (also using the definition of specific groups at the interior of Active Directory) the access at information, especially it permits to display:
- Monitoring in real time of licenses and features use
- Users information with dates exporting directly from Active Directory
- Software use analyses using bar, column, linear and round graphics
- Maximum tops and use Mean for each singular feature during particular periods
- Comparison between tops and monthly means
- License files with the possibility to edit contents
- License servers state and feature expiry dates
